Villanelle for Whitburn beach

I wrote this poem with pencil and spiral notepad while sitting on a rock on Whitburn beach in the northeast of England. It was a bright winter's day and the sun was glinting across a very calm sea. There were hardly any people out and about. In the main, my companions were gulls and cormorants. Here is the first verse:
The sun is flashing off the sea
Beneath the clear blue winter sky
It jolts me from my lethargy.
I wrote the lyric as a poem, following the form and rhyming scheme for a villanelle. The poem was composed in October 2007.
